Found this in the North Wales Chronicle, 1859.
John Jones, labourer of Yr Allt, Abergele, was charged by Thomas Roberts, Nant Ddu, on the 30th ult, with raising a snare to take game, stating that he was on duty at Plas-Uchaf farm, near Abergele, and saw two hares. I watched the hares, and the defendant took one up. I went to him, and told him I should summon him, to which he made no reply.-Fined 5s and costs, or 14 days imprisonment.
Thomas Roberts was my great grand uncle.
It’s satisfying to find reference to ancestor in an old newspaper Iorwerth. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Thanks for your comment. I have even more information about my predecessors gleaned from newspapers of the day. Makes fascinating reading.
Iorwerth Roberts
